At the supermarket, they have this ready pack complete with the ‘bumbu’ (spices), so here I was, grinding my first Sayur Asem herbs & spices.

And I’m an expert now !..wanna try my cuisine?

Monday, 9th February’09 was my birthday. I was craving for Italian food for so long, so WARUNG ITALIA was our choice. Bart chose the buffet menu : roasted chicken with herbs, potato gratin, spinach pasta, while I opted for Spaghetti with mushroom (can’t remember the italian name anymore).

This non-aircon Italian Rest in ‘warung’ style is located in Jalan Kunti,Seminyak, and has been favorite to both locals and tourists in Bali wanting for real Italian Food in affordable price. It was a bit hot that evening, but I enjoyed the food anyway, until…..!!! I got home and my indonesian stomach that is too familiar with nasi (rice) gave a reaction to the food….ouggh so not nice.

It’s strange that I got this reaction from spaghetti I used to like a lot, I guess SUSHI is too blame. This last one has become the comforter in a bad mood or for any celebration for the last 3 years. Best place & affordable for me is definitely PAPAYA FRESH GALLERY at Patih Jelantik,Kuta. YUMMY…YUMM!!!!

I have been a big fan of local wine from Bali, called Hatten Wines for many years.

They have various range of wine that are grown & harvested in Bali, located precisely in Singaraja, North East of Bali.

As Bali’s original vineyard & winery, they really make me proud of introducing a local-not imported- wine to my Jakarta or Bandung friends coming to Bali, despite of a despicable comment from some of my western friends..:(

From their 8 labels, my most favourite one is definetely ALEXANDRIA, a medium-sweet fruity flavour white wine, made from Belgia grapes grown in Hatten Wines vineyard.

Wina, one of my Jakarta friend just recently left her Alexandria from her Bali visit for me & Bart.

I planned to open and drink it on her next February visit, but one night I just couldn’t resist looking at that chilled green bottle in my fridge. SO one, two sips of Alexandria sweetness has made my night..

Promised to myself I would buy Wina’s other favorite Hatten Wines – PINO White or Red to replace this.

In order, my 3 Top favourite Hatten Wines labels are :
1. Alexandria
2. Rosé
3. Pino White

Which one are yours? Or do you prefer other local or imported wine? Would love to know !

from wikiHow – The How to Manual That You Can Edit

A salad doesn’t have to be just boring lettuce. A green salad can be a tasty and healthy experience. Scroll down!

Steps

Get a bowl, and a head of lettuce. Make sure you wash the lettuce well. Break the leaves off, and rub the lettuce under cold water. Then dry. To save time, simply buy a bag of already washed and shredded lettuce. If you’d like to, you can buy mixed greens or a more “exotic” bag of salad.

Add some veggies that you like! Wash and chop up a few to throw in with the salad. Try to mix interesting flavors, such as tomatoes, celery, and herbs (fresh is best).

Go even further with some meat. If you want a salad with some extra protein, add some chopped pieces of ham or turkey lunch meat. Even leftover meat from last night’s dinner can be a great addition.

Want to keep the salad vegetarian? Add some tofu or seitan chunks, and walnuts are good for any salad, meat-free or not.

Mix all of your ingredients into the bowl and stir together. Add your favorite dressing.

Serve. It’s the easy, healthy, and tasty snack full of crunchy, chewy, and hard ingredients.

Tips

Great salad herbs include chives, parsley, basil and oregano.

Don’t dismiss the positive outcome of adding fruit to a vegetable salad – mandarin pieces, pineapple pieces and cranberries can really spruce up the tired, everyday salad.

There are several toppings you can add to a salad. These include dressings: varieties are indeed endless. Also, try bacon, shredded cheese and diced eggs. It will encourage you to eat a salad.

Warnings

Don’t leave a salad sitting out too long at room temperature; always refrigerate what you don’t eat if you intend eating it again. You want to avoid the potential for bacteria such as salmonella. You could also get very sick from eating old salad.
